Professor Pablo Angel Castro, III, is the Head Professor at Cleveland Institute of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Professor Castro is a third degree Black Belt, and carries over 30 years of martial arts and self-defense experience. With such diverse experiences, including experiences as an attorney and college professor, Professor Castro is recognized as one of the premier Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Mixed Martial Arts instructors in the area. Professor Castro is a former accomplished high school and collegiate wrestler. A Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Black Belt World Champion, Castro is only the third American to receive a black belt from seven-time World Champion and 2-time Absolute Champion Rodrigo ‘Comprido’ Medeiros.
The former Head Professor at Strong Style, he has amassed a plethora of success throughout the world. Professor Castro’s students have consistently achieved awards and accolades from the highest levels of competition and events including: UFC, Bellator, International Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Federation (IBJJF), and Fight2Win.
Professor Castro has also worked with many law enforcement officers, including: secret service, federal agents, first responders, and agencies with self-defense and subject control. Additionally, Professor Castro has worked with agencies directed at assisting battered women, women’s self-defense, and those less fortunate.
In 2009, as a purple belt, Pablo won the International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation (IBJJF) Pan American Championships, held in Carson, California. In that same year Pablo won the coveted “Mundials” IBJJF NoGi World Championships, held in Long Beach California.
On November 3 and 4, 2012, in Long Beach, CA, Professor, Pablo Angel Castro, III, won gold at The International Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Federation’s (IBJJF) 6th Annual World Jiu-Jitsu No-Gi Championship as a black belt. Held in California State University, Long Beach. The first from Ohio to win a Black Belt World Championship, Professor Castro’s division tournament bracket consisted of some of the most accomplished Black Belts in the World.
Professor Castro, traveled all over the world, coaching some of the best fighters in the world, including UFC vets, Forrest Petz, Jeff Cox, Dan Bobish, John Gunther, Aleksa Camur, Jeff Hughes, Jessica Eye, Cody Grabrant. Professor Castro was the head BJJ coach with the greatest Heavyweight Team of all time. With a 6-2 record in UFC Heavyweight Championship Main Events, he helped the most decorated Heavyweight in UFC history, Stipe Miocic, bring a Championship home to Cleveland.
