At the age of 16, I discovered Judo, a martial art that became a guiding force in my life, offering me a sense of discipline, focus, and keeping me away from negative influences. Eager to explore my passion, I actively participated in local Judo events, immersing myself in the vibrant competition scene.
My earlier experience in middle school wrestling provided me with a foundational understanding of grappling arts, which proved invaluable as I delved deeper into Judo. As I matured, I naturally found myself sharing my knowledge and skills, primarily with children and young adults. Guiding them in the art of Judo became a fulfilling endeavor, and I wholeheartedly embraced the opportunity to make a positive impact on their lives.
Over the years, the tournament landscape shifted, with Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) gaining prominence. Determined to adapt and contribute to the community, I decided to focus on teaching children, leveraging my experience and passion for instructing. Witnessing their growth and development became a profound source of joy and fulfillment.
Throughout my journey, I have traveled extensively, competing on an international level, including notable accomplishments such as securing second place in the WCJJO (World Council Jujitsu Federation) in 2018. Additionally, I achieved success in multiple Tri-State Judo Championships held in West Virginia, Pennsylvania, and Ohio, earning first place honors in 2006 and 2007. Moreover, I have actively participated in approximately 20 or more BJJ competitions, consistently achieving podium finishes in esteemed tournaments such as NAGA, Grappling Industries, Fuji, and AGF.
With a black belt proficiency in both Judo and traditional Jujitsu, I am currently under the tutelage of Pablo as I diligently train to attain rank in BJJ. In addition to my dedication to Judo and BJJ, I have also been coaching youth wrestling for North Canton for the past six years, nurturing the potential of young athletes and fostering a love for the sport.
As an instructor, I am driven by a genuine desire to make a difference in the lives of those I teach and guide. By imparting invaluable life skills, instilling discipline, and promoting a positive mindset, I strive to inspire the next generation to overcome challenges and achieve their goals. It is my true passion to contribute to the growth of our community through the art of martial arts.
